Billy Maxwell Taylor is an interdisciplinary theatre-maker and ambient dance artist creating moments of stillness in the busyness. His practice draws upon research in Butoh, contact and meditation, whilst also considering the dance of everyday life: making coffee, park walks,

tending gardens. After studying for a BA in European Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College, and an MA in Expanded Dance Practice at London Contemporary Dance School, he has crafted theatre experiences for audiences across Wales and the UK such as his solos Rain Pours Like

Coffee Drops and Gentle Streams and his ongoing ensemble work In the Silence of Blossom.

As well as Ransack, his creative practice has been supported by The Place, National Dance Company Wales, Richard Chappell Dance, Volcano, Span Arts, Swindon Dance, Pavilion Dance

South West and other UK companies.

Billy first met Ransack Dance Company through their Arrive at Home programme, commissioning and supporting the early stages of Gentle Streams. This went on to develop into an hour-long piece in summer 2025 with support from Arts Council Wales. During this, Billy performed alongside Ransack’s Youth Company. He also participated in our ‘Explore’ training programme at YMa in 2025. Billy joins Ransack as a company dancer for our final R&D phase of new double-bill production ‘States of Being’ this spring (2026) and will join the cast of our touring production ‘Us and Them’, planned for retouring in spring 2027.
